The 100-Year Body: Restoration, Longevity, and the Beauty of Moving Well

Updated: Jul 25

Hidden in the East Sussex countryside, in the peaceful village of Blackboys near Uckfield, lies a space where restoration isn’t just a project it’s a way of life.

The Reformer Lounge was born from a vision to breathe new life into an old stable building. Once a place of function and quiet strength, the space has been lovingly renovated into a boutique Pilates studio, complete with vaulted ceilings, original oak beams, and six handcrafted maple Reformer beds. It’s a blend of old and new, heritage and modern movement designed not only to honour where we’ve come from but also to support where we’re going.

That same ethos of restoration, intention, and longevity is at the heart of every session here. We believe in the 100-year mindset. Just as this building has been carefully restored for years of future use, our bodies deserve the same attention and respect.

Pilates is not just a workout. It’s a practice that nurtures the body’s alignment, strength, and mobility qualities we’ll need not just now, but in our 70s, 80s, and beyond. When we slow down enough to connect with how we move, we begin to create a foundation that can truly carry us through life with grace and ease.

At Reformer Lounge, we welcome you to move with purpose. To care for your body not because it’s broken, but because it’s worth preserving. Think of it as restoring your own inner architecture one that’s just as worthy of care as the beams overhead.

Whether you’re new to Pilates or returning after time away, there’s space here for you to reconnect, rebuild, and move forward stronger, lighter, and more aligned with the life you want to live.
